Prayer for us at Port St. Lucie Bible Church is about our dependency on God. Psalm 62:8 tells us, “Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” So we pour out our hearts in praise, confession of sin, and thanksgiving, in addition to supplication.
We also understand prayer as a practical exercise of spiritual recalibration to align ourselves to the sovereign purposes of God as He has revealed them to us through His Word. As Scripture tells us “Pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 NASB)
The Bible informs us as to how to pray according to God’s will. The Sunday message highlights what the will of God is in our text and is shared each week in the mid-week newsletter that is emailed prior to our gathering for Wednesday night prayer. When we sincerely offer what we see in Scripture, that is a prayer God will affirm because Scripture reveals unequivocally it is His providential will.
